Why Commision Junction Loses to Amazon
Comission Junction can make you some money. But not the way the program is ran. Read this article for more information.
Well, well. You want to get into affiliate marketing. Meaning you want to put some products on your site you can make a commission off of. It comes down to Amazon or CJ. CJ being commission junction. Which will you choose?
CJ is a wealth of promises backed up by a shoddy system and a bunch of publishers that waste your time. When I first started using CJ I liked it. However, after a while I began to not use their links at all. Here's why:
- Often, you'll get an e-mail saying a "publisher has been discontinued" or you have been removed from their program. There is never a reason why or a recourse to get back in. You can try e-mailing the address quoted in the e-mail or the one CJ uses for that publisher. Publishers never respond.
- When a publisher removes you from their network or simply stops using CJ for their affiliate marketing (happens way too much), you then have to remove all the links on your site to that publisher. Sounds like a pain in the ass? It is.
- Affiliates or publishers will often send out e-mails telling you they have someone new leading the affiliate marketing group for them. Why do they fire and hire someone new all the time? Probably because CJ sucks.
- Amazon on the other hand doesn't disqualify you from programs automatically; and rarely do you have to change a link to an amazon product once it's online.
Bottom line analysis: CJ will always be a horrible system until they a> start offering some real support, b> finally understand you can't just tell a vendor for no reason to remove all their links to a publisher, and c> Actually care about their business. Perhaps they are too big to fix the problems; but I am not responding to Inkshare's request for affiliation until CJ can assure me once the links are live I will never have to edit them again.
STATIC CONTENT IS IMPORTANT. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO UPDATE A LINK DYNAMICALLY EVERYTIME BECAUSE CJ SAYS SO.
Thank you.
